The University is committed to building an inclusive environment that is welcoming and supportive. We aim to remove barriers and encourage full participation in all that Surrey has to offer for all those with a disability, long-term condition or neurodivergence.
Under the Equality Act, a disability is when you have a condition that affects you physically or mentally and has a "substantial" and "long-term" negative effect on daily activities. One in five people in the UK live with a disability.
Across the month, we will be raising awareness of disabilities, starting positive conversations and celebrating the diversity and differences of the disabled and neurodivergent community.
Between 16 November – 16 December 2024, we will be holding our first ever Disability and Neurodivergence Awareness Month.
