General study space

The following spaces are open to all students. You can also study in one of our many food and drink outlets across both campuses.

24 hours (Monday to Sunday) during term time.

8:30am to 00:00 (Monday to Sunday) during vacations.

Christmas opening hours

The Library will be open 08.30 to 00:00 (midnight) between Monday 9 December and Sunday 29 December.

From Monday 30 December onwards the Library will be open 24 hours.

MySurrey Dot Spaces
  • Senate House, Floor 2 in the area previously know as the ‘Spark’. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week for all students.
  • Alan Turing building (BB) on the 4th floor. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week with card access to the building.
  • James Joule building (BC) on the 2nd Floor, room 39. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week with card access to the building.
  • Elizabeth Fry building (AD) on the 3rd floor, room 45. Open 24 hours, 7 days a week with card access to the building.
  • Edward Jenner building (AX) on the 1st floor. Open 8am - 6pm,  7 days a week with card access to the building.

Please note all MySurrey Dot spaces are open and available for all students.

Vet School (main building): first floor rooms 5pm – 10pm (Mon to Fri) 12 noon – 10pm (Sat and Sun)
Innovation for Health building: first floor and computer lab zone of second floor 6pm – 9am
Students' Union Front Room
15DK00: IT labs 6pm – 10pm (availability varies)

*Access to the Vet School is via your campus card. You can request access to the building by contacting vetschoolcardaccess@surrey.ac.uk. Access is limited to 500 students on a first come, first serve basis. Access will be granted following successful application.

Group study rooms

There are group study spaces located across campus, including the Library, MySurrey Hive Stag Hill and MySurrey Dots.

You can check availability of the bookable spaces and book a group study room online.

Sign in using your University username and password, and select the required date and room.

You can view details of room size, location and facilities, together with a photograph of the room.

You will receive a confirmation email of your booking.

Please remember to cancel your booking if you no longer want the room so others can use the space.

Book teaching rooms

You can also book teaching rooms online for revision or group work when they are not being used for teaching.

  • Bookings may be made for central teaching rooms within the designated University semester between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday via your timetable. Once you are logged in, select bookings from the tab and then in semester. Then follow the instructions given.
  • Outside of these times most central teaching rooms can be booked through the Hospitality, Conference and Catering Service team:

Book audiovisual equipment

Alongside a teaching room, you may also require additional audiovisual equipment. To book equipment you will need to complete and submit the audiovisual equipment form at least two working days before your event.

Access computers on campus

There are hundreds of computers and PC labs available on campus. A timetable with the relevant opening hours is placed outside of the PC labs.

Additionally, there are also laptops available to loan.

Book social spaces

You can book various social spaces across campus for your society, sports club or social needs.
