Maths and/or statistics skills are vital for many programmes at the University of Surrey. For many students, succeeding in these areas is a matter of improving confidence and ability to work independently on maths and statistics problems.
The Maths and Statistics Advice team offers guidance and support to students whatever their level of maths and statistics ability. Becoming an independent, confident learner means knowing when to seek advice, so don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are finding the maths or statistics content of your programme difficult or if you wish to talk through some of its finer details.
The team offers confidential and non-judgemental advice in its drop-ins and appointments, via guided discussion of your lecture notes or supported practice in solving maths and statistics problems and interpreting and articulating data, allowing you to build your confidence and empowering you to become a better independent learner. Additionally, the team provides a range of themed workshops.
